Every woman and man has a unique shape of hands and fingers, as well as nails of a certain shape. Nail shapes are very diverse and they can be divided into several groups. Their names and types are corresponding to geometric shapes like circle, oval, square, soft square, almond, and stiletto (sharp nails). The most actual is the square shape.

Types of nail shapes:

SQUARE
Perfect shape for those who have long skinny fingers with beautiful phalanges and ankles. This shape isn’t looking good on short or massive fingers, too long or short nails (in this case, the square will create a trapezoid increasingly to the tip). This nail shape is easy to file at home, but it is not practical in everyday life, as the square is easiest to catch by the clothes, for example. The square can be sharp, outlined, and soft (in this case the risk of catching smth or even breakage is lower). This form of nails looks good both with polishing and without it.  It is necessary to underline the technique “French manicure” which is created for square nails.

SOFT SQUARE
This shape is in between square and oval and is a square with the cut rounder edges. This option is universal to compare with the square shape. It looks good on short nails and fingers. This shape looks natural and practical in everyday life.

ROUND
Usually people are having a round nail shape, whose nails aren’t small, beds and palms are big, wrists are thin and fingers are neat. This shape is a circle that is not flattened on the sides. As a rule, this natural shape is the most difficult to change. Fingernails are growing in a circle, and it is very difficult to change them into a square or even more so into a stiletto. And vice versa as well. The best length option for this form is short neat nails, polished with translucent shades of gel varnishes.

OVAL
This shape is natural for many girls, and a lot of them are choosing exactly this one. The fact is that the oval is quite versatile (suitable for both narrow and wide nails, long and short, thin and plump nail fingers). The edge is smooth and is in the form of an arc, not easy to break, which makes it ideal for washing dishes or exercise, sports.  The oval shapes look best on short and medium nails. Probably not the best fit for the long ones. If you have an oval shape, you can consider any style of manicure, including French manicure.

ALMOND
This form has become very popular since 2019 and is modern nowadays. It is in between an oval and a stiletto. Almond shape looks good on narrow nails. We recommend leaving the length as it is and polish it with beige, bright, dark colors.

SHARP, STILLETO
The name is given in honor of the shape of the cutting blade. The most aggressive and extravagant option. Moreover, this shape is often chosen as a fashion tribute as an everyday option. The same as square nails are suitable for owners of thin, long fingers, neat nail beds, and nails of at least medium length, even better than they were long enough. The tip of sharp nails protrudes significantly, which makes it not the most comfortable.
